Gateway Gardens Trust has had to close because its sources of funding dried up. One corporate funder withdrew a firm offer, another is described, without humour, as having "closed their gates". Working mainly in Wales, Gateway facilitated trips to historic gardens for those who found visits difficult - such as the disabled teenagers pictured above - and for others who would never have thought such places would be enjoyable for them. Many different people benefited - but sadly such outcomes are nowadays seen as "soft" and less worthy of support.
The Trust's website - www.gatewaygardenstrust.org - will
stay in action for the next three years, containing reports
on their activities over the past decade and links to
other organisations.
Meanwhile we now hear rumours that other organisations may step in to get Gateway back up and running, and hope that this may turn out to be true.
